The information contained in these pages is meant to provide a broad overview of legal rights, options and resources for individuals struggling with domestic violence in the Upper Valley.
If you are a victim of domestic violence, WISE can help. For confidential support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, call the WISE Crisis Line (1-866-348-9473) to speak with a trained advocate.
WISE Advocates can:
- Talk to you on the phone or meet with you in person at the WISE Program Center.
- Go with you to court or the police station.
- Help refer you to a lawyer or other legal services.
WISE Advocates can also provide you with information to better understand your legal options such as:
- Restraining Orders
- Reporting a crime to the police
- Divorce and parental rights in NH and VT
Please note: WISE Advocates are not lawyers and cannot provide you with legal advice such as telling you how the law might apply to your situation. WISE Advocates can provide you with support and information as you navigate the legal system.

Internet Safety: There are many ways for an abuser to track your computer or internet use. In many cases, it may be safer to use a computer that your abuser has never had access to, such as a computer in a public library, community technology center, or at the home of a trusted friend.
